Johnny Depp is to become the highest paid actor of all time after it was reported that he will be earning $32 million for starring in the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film.

The 44 year old is to make the record breaking amount for reprising his role as the eccentric pirate Jack Sparrow. It dwarfs the previous record setter - Tom Hanks' $29 million for forthcoming The Da Vinci Code sequel Angels & Demons.

It's been rumored that the fourth sequel won't feature Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. The film will instead focus on Sparrow's journey to find the fountain of youth. Pirates of Caribbean 4 is to be released in 2011.
