Katie Holmes in the Dec. 7 issue of The New York Times Style Magazine

Katie Holmes sat down for an interview with New York magazine and talked about her high profile lifestyle, her marriage to Tom Cruise and how many people have a misperception about her and the actor.

Holmes insists rumors that she has turned into a “wallflower” and lets Cruise make her decisions are false. “There’s a misperception about me that I just became this wallflower, this woman who doesn’t have any control of her life. And that’s pretty wrong. From the very beginning, I’ve made choices in my life that have been very strong,” Holmes says.

The actress reveals that she was “completely in love” with Cruise when they met in 2006 and married months later. "When I met Tom I was completely in love and, yes, I admired him growing up – he's Tom Cruise! … When I met him, he was so warm and I thought, Wow! You can be a superstar and a human being. He made me feel so amazing,” she said.

As for her high profile lifestyle with Cruise and their 2-year-old daughter Suri, Holmes admits that it’s a different, “bigger life.” “My life has expanded. My family and friends are all part of this bigger life,” Holmes added.
