Celine Dion used an embryo that had been frozen for 8 years to get pregnant. Dr. Zev Rosenwaks, who performed the in vitro fertilization procedure that made it possible for Dion to conceive, says the 41-year-old and her husband Rene Angelil are “very thankful” for the pregnancy.
“She was very happy,” Rosenwaks says of Dion’s reaction to the pregnancy news. “So was Rene. They are both very thankful. She is very, very early in her pregnancy.”
Rosenwaks implanted an embryo that Dion had frozen when she went through IVF to conceive her first child, Rene Charles, in 2001. Following her performance run in Las Vegas in 2007, she went back to Rosenwaks about a second child. “She came back to have the embryos transferred back because she wanted to have another baby,” he says.
“She is feeling well. So far, so good. I look forward to hearing the fetal heartbeat. René and Céline are both looking forward to a pregnancy that is a healthy one."
