In a TLC special that aired last night, Kate admits she still holds a place in her heart for Jon and hopes one day the “old Jon” will return. Despite their high publicized divorce, Kate Gosselin says she will always love Jon Gosselin.
“A part of me always will [love Jon]. It’s hard to be married to somebody for 10 years and try to say I, ‘No, I don’t love them anymore.’ It doesn’t work really well. I love the memories that we have together,” Kate told Natalie Morales in a TLC special that aired Monday night. “I still wake up every day and I think the phone will ring and it’ll be…the old Jon,” she said.
Kate says she hopes for peace for her family.
“We can’t turn life off. You're viewing our lives; yes, you can turn it off. I can't turn life off. In the last nine, 10 months, it's gotten real crazy, and I can't seem to get away from it. I just want peace for my kids,” she says.
When Morales argued she could have peace away from the media spotlight, Kate insisted she must continue with a TV show because she has to support her 8 children.
“At this point, I can’t go back. I signed up for a reality show, I didn’t sign up to be a tabloid staple. If I said I was done and it was enough, it would just be five more covers of why it is that I’m done, and so I would be living for a person of time essentially with no income, with no job,” Kate explained.
As for her divorce from Jon, Kate admits she contributed to the split with her controlling manner. “I was wrong to treat him that way,” she adds.
